The ABC SEPA Excellence in Construction Awards has become one of the largest and most prestigious award competition to recognize superior projects built by ABC contractors in the greater Delaware Valley area. |
ELIGIBILITY: |
|
|
Any general contractor or specialty contractor who is a current member of the Southeast Pennsylvania Chapter of ABC. Projects submitted must be located in the Delaware Valley area. The project entered must have been completed between March 1, 2007 and September 1, 2008. Projects need to be nearly 100% complete. Contractors should have a “Certificate of Substantial Completion” for each project entered before judging day on September 9, 2008. Projects entered in last year’s contest are not eligible. **Any contractor or subcontractor under its control that had a safety-related fatality on a project in question for submission is not eligible for this competition.**

ENTRY FEE: |
|
|
An entry fee will be required after your project submittal is approved (you do not need to submit a check with your initial entry form). The fee structure is as follows: Early Discount Deadline is $300.00 per project for entries received before August 1, 2008. Any entries received between August 4 - 18, 2008 the fee is $400.00 per project. Entries received between August 18 - 29, 2008 the fee is $600.00 per project. All entries are subject to approval by the Committee. The appropriate entry fee for each entry must be made payable to the Southeast PA Chapter of ABC prior to the August 29, 2008 deadline (No entry materials will be accepted after this date). |
| MULTIPLE ENTRY DISCOUNT: |

The following discount policy will apply to multiple entries from the same contractor, submitted in their entirety: |
|
• 1 - 2 Entries: Full Price |
|
• 3 - 4 Entries: 10% Discount |
|
• 5 or more: 20% Discount |
AWARD CATEGORIES: Projects may be entered under any of the following categories:
- Commercial (i.e. office buildings, hotels, motels, banks, retail outlets, interiors)
- Institutional (i.e. private schools, hospitals, correctional facilities, nursing homes, churches, etc.)
- Heavy Construction - Sitework (i.e. major excavating, paving, parking lots, etc.)
- Heavy Construction - Public Works (i.e. water/sewage treatment plants, pumping stations, etc.)
- Heavy Construction - Infrastructure (i.e. streets, highways, dams, bridges, etc.)
- Restoration/Renovation (i.e. renovations of existing buildings, historical renovations, etc.)
- Residential (single or multi-family units)
- Industrial - (i.e. manufacturing plants and facilities, etc.)
- Public Construction (i.e. schools, state or municipal buildings, etc.)
- Pre-Engineered Metal Building
- Specialty Construction (i.e. electrical, mechanical, masonry, etc.)
- Special Award: Green Build LEED Certified
**NOTE: The Business Development Committee will assign projects to cost divisions, (e.g. Under $2 Million, $2-5 Million, etc.) where appropriate. The categories will be determined based on the number and size of projects entered.
IMPORTANT DATES TO REMEMBER:
Deadline for Entries: August 1, 2008
Final Deadline for completed entries and final Payment: August 29, 2008.

Project Judging Day: September 9, 2008
Awards Banquet: November 19, 2008
| JUDGING: |

|
Judging teams will represent a cross-section of our industry including architects, owners, developers and other construction industry leaders. Members of the judging teams will visit the projects on Tuesday, September 9, 2008, to evaluate all entries and determine the award winners. No contractor members of Associated Builders & Contractors will participate as judges. A representative from the contractor must be present at the site on Judging Day. |
| MINIMUM SCORE REQUIREMENT: |
|
|
A minimum score of 75% is required in order for a project to be showcased in the Awards Program. Projects scoring below 75% will not be included in the Awards Banquet program and video presentation. Entry fees will not be refunded for projects scoring below 75%. |
| AWARDS: |
|
|
Awards and appropriate publicity will be given in each category. First place awards with the highest score in a category will receive an Award of Excellence and second highest scoring project will receive a Merit Level Award. Certificates will be sent to all ABC contractors and suppliers involved in the winning projects after the annual awards banquet for distribution to the subcontractors by the GC. It is the responsibility of the contractor to notify the ABC office of all contractors and suppliers involved on the project. |

The 2008 Merit Construction Awards of Excellence Banquet will be on Wednesday evening, November 19, 2008 at The Waterford Ballroom, Radisson Valley Forge in King of Prussia, PA. |
